Mia Carruthers and Curtis Roush first met as “label mates” at the South-by-Southwest Music Festival in the spring of 2018. It took some years yet collaboration turned to love returned onto itself. In these spare early moments of connection, the songs came easily as explorations of mutual vulnerability bloomed in the desolate warmth of their high desert sound.
Softly trimmed by the psychedelia of comrades The Bright Light Social Hour, the music of Carruthers & Roush is cosmic in scope, Texan by nature, and as plaintive as wide-eyed romantic.
